faq

[This is a temporary FAQ. Will be updated soon.]

What the trout is going on?

This is an archive of the A.I. web game at cloudmakers.org. This is an approximate reproduction of the game on July 23, 2001. Just start hitting the sites over there (each will open up in a new window).

First props go to the Puppet Masters, who hatched The Beast in the first place. Second, to Paul Cox for collecting the archive. Without them . . . etc, etc.

What's right?

Most sites look exactly the same. Most links between sites work. Most logins have been reimplemented on the client side. The versions of the Trail, Guide, and Journey here have been hacked.

What's wrong?

Inevitably, there are broken links, missing files, unimplementable puzzles (Eliza's Tearoom comes to mind). Most of these are documented at the archive site. If you find a bug not listed there, please send it to bugs@cloudmakers.org.
